Lammas Essential Oil Diffuser Blend

One of my favorite things about working with essential oils is that you can really set a mood with the right combination of oils in your diffuser. The scent of some oils makes us think of romance, while others might feel like a particular season.

Today I’m sharing with you a little diffuser blend for Lammas. Lammas is one of my favorite sabbats, partly because it is the first sabbat I ever celebrated. It’s the first harvest celebration and a reminder that fall is coming, even though it’s still the height of summer heat here in California. The primary herbal associations of Lammas are with oats and wheat, but unfortunately, those aren’t plants that are found in essential oils! So instead, we’re tapping into floral and summery scents for this blend that would be perfect for a Lammas ritual.

Lammas Diffuser Blend

  • 8 drops lavender essential oil
  • 6 drops lemongrass essential oil
  • 3 drops patchouli essential oil

Lavender is a classic Lammas herb and flower, as it is at the peak of its growing season in Mediterranean climates at this time of year. The sweet, floral scent of lavender complements warmer, earthier scents perfectly and is calming and soothing for a ritual atmosphere.

Lemongrass is perfect for summer, with its bright, citrus scent. What sets lemongrass apart from plain citrus oils, like lemon and orange, is its herbaceous quality. This is a powerful cleansing and purifying herb, making it perfect for clearing out the energy of summer and making room for autumn.

Patchouli is a lovely scent associated equally with earthy, woodsy and sensual qualities. It smoothly makes the transition from the heat of summer to the earthiness of fall and is perfect for grounding you this Lammas.
