May’s full moon is the Flower Moon. It’s a time of joyous celebration; our gardens are in full bloom and the sun is staying up much longer. In fact, the longest day of the year is just five short weeks away.
In honor of the Flower Moon, I thought it would be fun to create a floral tea blend or tisane and a ritual to go along with it.
Flower Moon Tea Blend
Serves one teapot
- 1 tablespoon dried rosebuds
- 1 tablespoon dried hibiscus
- 1 tablespoon dried red clover blossoms
- 2 teaspoons dried sunflower petals
- 1 teaspoon dried passionflower
Blend the ingredients together in a strainer or tea bag. Pour hot water over the strainer. Allow to steep 3-5 minutes. I recommend stirring half a teaspoon of lavender sugar into the tea to sweeten it.
Flower Moon Tea Ritual
Tools and Supplies Needed:
- Floral tea blend (see above)
- Tea cup
- Teapot or kettle
- White or pink candles
- Potted flowers
Light the candles. Set at least one pot of flowers on your altar.
Brew the tea, taking care to focus on the process. Hold your hands over the cup of tea as it steeps and close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Feel the joyful energy of this full moon.
Slowly sip the tea. At this point, you may want to use the teacup filled with floral tea as a surface for scrying, with or without a pendulum.
Pour out the last bit of tea into the pot of flowers as an offering.
How are you celebrating this May full Flower Moon?
