One of my most popular posts ever is the infographic of 10 Magickal Herbs You Need in Your Spiritual Practice, which features correspondences of some of the herbs most essential to my own practice. I tend to get a lot of questions though about the fact that there aren’t herbs representing all twelve of the astrological signs in the graphic so I’ve made a new edition!
Aries: Chili Pepper
Aries is a hot and fiery sign, the energy of which is amplified by spicy chili peppers. Red peppers are magickally associated with sexuality and breaking curses, as well as taking action.
Taurus is one of the most grounded Earth signs, a state exemplified by the energy of oats. Though a traditional and humble plant, oats can be beautifully comforting.
Gemini: Orange Bergamot
Gemini is a talkative and outgoing sign, while orange bergamot magickally adds power to all things. This delicious citrus perfectly complements Gemini’s energy of success.
As the sign of the Moon, Cancer is a watery and emotional sign. There are many moon herbs, but I feel the sweet scent of jasmine encapsulates the spiritual quality of this sign.
On the other hand, Leo is the sign of the Sun, and represents fiery, brilliant energy. Calendula, also known as marigold, is a flower of strength and protection, perfect for Leo.
Green is the color of Virgo, a sign associated with healing and nature. Mint, one of the classic magickal herbs, is ruled by Mercury, as is Virgo, and is also connected to healing.
One of the most sensual signs of the zodiac, Libra is associated with balance and relationships. Rose is perhaps the classic “relationship” flower, and is deeply connected to love and opening the heart.
The most mystical of the signs, Scorpio has a reputation for being mysterious and seductive. Damiana has long been considered an aphrodisiac, and is also associated with dreams.
Sagittarius is an adventurous sign, filled with wanderlust and intellect. Dandelions are used for wishing and magickal release, carrying your wishes for adventure on the wind.
As the responsible sign associated with authority, Capricorn has a strong, sturdy Earth energy. Elm trees complement that with sense of grounding that boosts the self-esteem.
Aquarius has an individualistic energy that is at the same time, associated with great humanitarianism and unconventional attitudes. Though very traditional, rosemary helps Aquarius to focus their energies.
Pisces is the watery fish sign, which benefits from the earthier energies of mugwort. This herb offers Pisces a strong foundation to explore the sign’s inherent mysticism and dreaminess.
Look up the herb that corresponds to your Sun sign, your Moon sign and your Rising sign. Do they speak to you?
